The Air Jordan 10 Retro “Steel” is arguably the most historically accurate version of the colorway ever released because Jordan Brand finally restores the feature Michael Jordan himself had removed: the leather toe cap. The original 1994 Steel was the only retail AJ10 to feature the additional piece across the toe. MJ disliked the look, requested its removal, and subsequent AJ10 colorways - along with Steel retros in 2005 and 2013 - abandoned it entirely. For 2025, the cap returns over the White leather upper, immediately giving the shoe a noticeably different forefoot profile. Black and Light Steel Grey build out the eyestays, tongue, collar, and striped interior, while the Jumpman logos on the heels face opposite directions, another detail recreated from original production. Even the subtle baby-blue accents on the outsole and insoles return instead of the Varsity Red used on previous retros. Underneath, the AJ10’s famous outsole lists Michael Jordan’s major career accomplishments through 1993, a design originally conceived while he was away from basketball. Jordan Brand completes the archival treatment with a vintage-style reproduction shoebox. The Steel has always been an original AJ10 colorway, but previous retros quietly revised one of its defining quirks. This edition finally brings back the strange toe cap that MJ rejected, making the imperfection itself the feature collectors had waited decades to see again.
