The Nike Air Flightposite "Jason Kidd / Dallas Mavericks" is one of the rarest Player Exclusive-to-retail conversions in Nike Basketball's 2025 archive release program - a shoe that originated as a PE created for Jason Kidd during his time as one of Nike Basketball's most prominent non-signature athletes, and that was distributed in single-digit quantities through a House of Hoops initiative in 2008 before essentially disappearing from the collector market entirely for over fifteen years. Kidd was a documented devotee of the Air Flightposite throughout his career - multiple PEs existed across his tenure with the New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks - and this specific colorway blends the Eggplant iridescent finish associated with his most celebrated Flightposite pairs with a Midnight Navy neoprene application in the placement zones the original PE carried navy. The full molded Foamposite shell covers the primary upper in the characteristic iridescent Eggplant - a deep purple that shifts toward violet and blue under different lighting - while Midnight Navy fills the neoprene-like collar and forefoot transition zones where the shell meets the inner bootie. The zip-up shroud runs over the full lacing system to create the Flightposite's defining aerodynamic sealed exterior, and the Zoom Air cushioning system provides the responsive midsole platform. WWD confirmed the 2025 release is not an exact 1-to-1 of the original PE - the differences being the placement of black versus navy and the removal of Kidd's name and number embroidery - making this a close retail interpretation rather than a strict reproduction.
