The Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" is the most personally told story in Kevin Durant's entire signature catalog — and it has been off shelves for 13 years. Originally releasing August 3, 2013 during KD's first NBA MVP season, the "Meteorology" drew its entire identity from a detail most people don't know about one of basketball's greatest scorers: Kevin Durant wanted to be a meteorologist when he grew up. Nike didn't treat that as a footnote — they built an entire shoe around it, making the "Meteorology" one of the first signature basketball colorways to use its athlete's personal childhood dream as its complete design foundation rather than a team color or performance theme. The result was, and remains, one of the most conceptually original Nike Basketball colorways of the decade — a weather radar-inspired graphic print applied across the entire upper of KD's sixth signature model, merging the visual language of storm tracking maps with the performance demands of an MVP-caliber shoe at the peak of his powers.
The graphic construction is what defines this shoe entirely. A jet black upper forms the dark, atmospheric base across all panels — mesh, overlays, and Flywire zones — setting the stage for the colorway's defining feature: a topographic weather map contour-line pattern that covers the entire surface in the looping, layered iso-bar graphics of a Doppler radar printout. Atomic Red hits the oversized KD logos, the Swoosh, and the weather pattern itself with an almost neon intensity that reads simultaneously like storm-front warning markers on a radar map and the kind of aggressive branding Durant wore on court during his most dominant scoring runs. Medium Olive and Noble Red accents layer through the graphic, adding the tonal depth of a real weather system's color gradations — warm and cool zones rendered in footwear form. Underfoot, a dual-density midsole combining Zoom Air and Max Air delivers the same balanced cushioning platform KD relied on through 32 points per game and a scoring title that season — performance heritage that makes this shoe as playable in 2026 as it was in 2013.
