The Air Jordan 6 Retro "Reimagined Reverse Infrared / Salesman Sample" is the first-ever retail release of a colorway that has existed exclusively in the collector mythology for over two decades - an unreleased 1999 salesman sample that Jordan Brand representatives used to pitch retailers for the first wave of Air Jordan retros, and that never reached consumer hands because the standard "Black Infrared" color arrangement was selected for production instead. The "Reverse" designation describes the specific difference from the standard colorway: where the OG AJ6 "Infrared" carries the bright red at the midsole's rear Air unit with black leather and nubuck above it, the salesman sample extends the Infrared placement across the full midsole and reverses the color relationship on the upper - a black nubuck primary surface with Light Crimson taking over where black typically dominates at the heel and midsole. The 2026 release is the first non-collaboration Air Jordan 6 to feature the updated 1991-spec construction - Nike's team modified the toe box shape, tongue height, and interior bootie construction to match the proportions MJ actually wore on court, a correction that distinguishes this release from every standard AJ6 retro produced in the past decade. The specific shade of Light Crimson was reverse-engineered by comparing the 1991 and 2000 production pairs side by side, confirming the exact tone the 1999 salesman sample would have used. The signature Dynamic Fit inner sleeve, visible Air unit in the heel, and translucent icy rubber outsole complete the construction in OG specification, and sample-style packaging and a "Not For Resale" stamp inside the collar recreate the physical experience of handling the 1999 prototype that started the story.
