The Air Jordan 3 Retro TEX "Starfish / Orange Trance" is a July 2025 AJ3 that applies the TEX format - Jordan Brand's textile-construction specification that replaces the standard leather and elephant print upper with woven and canvas materials - to a warm, earth-toned summer palette. The TEX designation signals a complete material substitution: no tumbled leather base, no standard elephant print, no traditional AJ3 leather construction anywhere on the primary upper. In its place, a full woven textile and canvas build covers the shoe in a natural-looking, breathable surface material that gives the AJ3 a significantly more lifestyle and warm-weather character than the original leather construction. Sail and Starfish Orange distribute across the woven panels - Sail as the primary neutral ground and Starfish as the warm orange accent that gives the colorway its name - in a combination that reads as natural fibers in coastal afternoon light rather than athletic construction. Starfish Orange suede wraps the toe and heel overlays in the zones where elephant print traditionally appears, the suede providing the textural contrast that the TEX format cannot achieve through woven material alone. Tonal canvas panels dominate the collar, eyestay, and side zones, and embroidered Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel replace the standard leather branding. An aged Sail midsole with the AJ3's visible Air-Sole heel unit and a translucent rubber outsole complete the build, the vintage-toned sole providing the warm seasonal finish the Starfish Orange upper requires.
