The Air Jordan 4 Retro NET "Black / Metallic Silver" is the first Air Jordan 4 produced in the NET format - a construction variant that removes the standard TPU mesh netting from the AJ4's quarter panels and replaces it with physical open-weave net material, giving the shoe a structural transparency and visual depth that no standard AJ4 retro has previously achieved at retail. The NET designation is the most significant construction-level departure from the standard AJ4 build since the introduction of the "Metallic" spec in 1999 - not a colorway or material finish change but a structural intervention that alters how the shoe's most recognizable design element functions. In the standard AJ4, the "netting" panels are a TPU overlay that creates the visual impression of mesh without actually being open - a closed, textured surface rather than a true net. The NET format opens those panels into genuine, see-through weave material, allowing light through the quarter zones and revealing the inner liner beneath in a way the original construction never exposed. A Black leather upper covers the primary structural zones - toe box, wings, mudguard, and collar - providing the dark ground that makes the open-weave NET panels' transparency most legible against the interior liner. Metallic Silver lands on the lace locks, Jumpman branding, and select hardware zones as the colorway's premium accent material, its cool chrome finish connecting the black-and-silver palette to the AJ4's most enduring non-color-specific colorway tradition. A black midsole and outsole complete the build in tonal dark construction below the NET-equipped upper.
