The Air Jordan 3 Retro “Matcha” introduces a fresh tea-inspired counterpart to Jordan Brand’s long-running Mocha color story, using green in the places collectors would normally expect earthy brown. Its layout draws directly from the celebrated Air Jordan 3 “Mocha,” originally released in 2001, keeping the upper predominantly clean while transforming the signature accent zones with Matcha-inspired Chlorophyll Green. Summit White leather establishes the foundation across Tinker Hatfield’s iconic 1988 silhouette, while Green takes over the elephant-print sections wrapping the toe and heel, creating the defining visual connection to the drink that inspired the release. Chlorophyll continues through the upper eyelets, tongue Jumpman, outsole, and Nike Air heel branding, giving the otherwise understated construction carefully concentrated hits of color. That heel treatment is especially important on the Air Jordan 3, the model that originally introduced visible Air cushioning, elephant print, and the Jumpman logo to Michael Jordan’s signature line. Rather than simply covering an AJ3 in fashionable Green, “Matcha” works because it repurposes a color-blocking formula already deeply connected to the silhouette.
