The Air Jordan 8 Retro “Aqua” brings back one of the three original AJ8 colorways from 1993 and one of the rare early Jordans whose identity was built almost completely outside Chicago Bulls colors. Black nubuck dominates the upper, while Iron Grey wraps the heel and collar - an important OG detail that disappeared on the darker 2007 retro before returning in 2015. Bright Concord and Aquatone explode across the sculpted heel panels and midsole, joined by True Red and the unmistakable multicolor chenille Jumpman tongue patch, one of the AJ8’s most recognizable details. The crossover straps remain pure early-’90s Tinker Hatfield: two branded straps lock across the midfoot over the traditional lacing system, giving the shoe the aggressive, layered appearance that separated it from earlier Jordans. The “Aqua” also carries a particularly important Michael Jordan connection. MJ wore the original during the 1993 NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City, making it the only original AJ8 colorway he famously showcased in an All-Star setting. This 2025 return follows major retros in 2007 and 2015, but notably drops the glitter-heavy midsole treatment associated with the original-inspired 2015 edition. More than three decades later, the Black, Grey, Purple, Aqua, and Red combination still looks unlike almost anything else from Jordan’s championship-era catalog.
