The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG x Fragment Design x Union LA "Varsity Red / Sport Royal" is the most colorway-forward of the three pairs in the Fragment Design x Union LA x Jordan Brand 2026 collaboration - the one that directly references both collaborators' most iconic Jordan Brand work in a single colorway. The design uses what multiple sources have described as a "split" construction: the lower portion of the shoe draws from Fragment's signature Sport Royal language - the deep blue that defined Hiroshi Fujiwara's 2014 Air Jordan 1 and has remained the color most associated with Fragment's Jordan Brand identity - while the collar and upper zones shift to Varsity Red, referencing the Chicago-era AJ1 color blocking that Union LA used as the foundation of its own 2018 Air Jordan 1 collaboration. Union's signature exposed zig-zag stitching connects the two color zones at the collar seam, making the join the most technically specific design detail on the shoe - Union's construction language as the literal connector between Fragment's color and Chicago's color. The upper is built from premium tumbled leather and smooth leather panels in both Varsity Red and Sport Royal, with a Black leather underlayer grounding the color blocking. Gold leather piping outlines the panel edges as the collaboration's most visually distinctive accent detail. Fragment's double bolt logo stamps the heel, the UN/LA tag appears at the collar, and an aged Sail midsole provides vintage warmth at the sole level.
