The Nike Air DT Max 96 "Love Letter to Connie" is Deion Sanders' most personally heartfelt Nike release - a shoe dedicated entirely to his mother, Connie Knight, released just ahead of Mother's Day 2025 and built around a two-tone red construction that references both the 49ers' and Falcons' team colors without being a team tribute - the red arriving instead as the maternal tribute color of the most personal Nike release in Sanders' modern partnership with the brand. The Air DT Max 96 was Deion's third Nike signature shoe, originally released during the Dallas Cowboys era of his career, and its mid-cut construction with aggressive leather overlays and Max Air cushioning remains specific enough to be immediately identifiable as a signature athlete's shoe rather than a generic training model. Suede, tumbled leather, neoprene, and mesh all arrive coated in heart-red hues: University Red covers the suede paneling on the toe, midfoot, and collar zones, while a deeper Red Crush provides the tumbled leather base layer visible through the scratch cut-out panels beneath the suede - the two-tone red relationship providing depth within the single-color concept. White Deion logo text appears on the tongue in the collaboration's most visible branding placement, and a tiny Swoosh is embroidered beneath the collar with pink outlines - the one sentimental color departure from the red-dominant exterior. A "Love You Ma" stamp appears in pink cursive on the insole - visible only when the shoe is opened, making the dedication intimate rather than performative. A red foam midsole with a visible Air unit in the heel and a tonal red outsole complete the all-red build from midsole to ground.
