The Air Jordan 8 Retro "Hornets / New Emerald" is the first retail release of a Player Exclusive colorway built for Chris Paul during his most dominant seasons with the New Orleans Hornets — a shoe that spent nearly two decades as one of the most documented never-publicly-released Jordan Brand items in the basketball world. Paul was Jordan Brand's most prolific PE recipient throughout his career, and the Hornets-era AJ8 PE is the most requested of those pairs — making the 2027 retail release a significant moment for collectors who have tracked its existence since 2008. The 2027 version is confirmed as a new colorway inspired by Paul's Away PE rather than a strict reconstruction — the Black, New Emerald, and Tour Yellow palette near-identical to CP3's Hornets Away uniform combination. A black nubuck upper covers the primary surface of the AJ8's high-top construction — the dense matte black providing the dominant dark base against which both accent colors land with maximum contrast. New Emerald provides the colorway's most immediately legible Hornets reference, landing across the crossover ankle straps — the AJ8's most architecturally distinctive design element, the dual lace-through straps that cross the ankle — as well as select midsole accents and branding zones. Tour Yellow arrives at secondary accent points as the team's third color. The AJ8's sculpted midsole, padded ankle collar, and rubber outsole complete the build.
