The Air Jordan 9 Retro OG "30th Anniversary Space Jam / Playoffs" is the sixth release of the most conceptually unusual colorway in the Air Jordan catalog — a shoe Michael Jordan never wore on an NBA court that nonetheless became one of the most culturally significant Jordan colorways ever produced. The AJ9 was designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1993 during MJ's first retirement, appeared on MJ's feet during the training montage in the 1996 film Space Jam when Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck raid his house, and is the same silhouette depicted on his United Center statue in Chicago — cultural permanence earned entirely off the court. The 2026 retro is the most construction-accurate version since the 2016 release, with updated shaping closer to the original 1993 mold correcting the silhouette drift collectors noted on recent pairs. A smooth white leather upper covers the primary surface with the clean premium finish the original specified, while a black synthetic nubuck mudguard wraps the lower profile with a matte, contrasting texture. True Red hits land on the Jumpman midsole branding and heel, the one warm accent in an otherwise white-and-black build. The speed lacing system secures the upper at the midfoot, and the rubber outsole carries multilingual text referencing MJ's global icon status — the detail that gives the AJ9 its most specific storytelling element underfoot. An encapsulated Air-Sole unit in both the forefoot and heel completes the cushioning foundation.
